On January 7th, I traveled to Kashi with the intent of finding a knowledgeable priest to conduct ritual ceremonies, specifically the Pinda Pradanam, in honor of my parents. After contacting several priests, I came across the details of Sharma Garu and initiated a conversation with him regarding the date, time, and other specifics of the rituals. Sharma Garu was extremely polite and patient throughout our interactions. He took the time to explain everything in great detail, without any hesitation, even when I needed clarification multiple times. He instructed me to visit Chouki Ghat, which is located next to Kedar Ghat, where he would perform the rituals. At the location, Sharma Garu conducted the pooja with great diligence and explained each aspect of the ceremony. He shared insightful information about the significance of performing these rituals in Kashi, including the historical context of the place. Upon completion of the ritual, when I inquired about the payment process, Sharma Garu provided a QR code scanner. This scanner is associated with a community of priests, which they have established. He kindly requested that the payment be made directly to their community. Thank you andi!!

While the priest was responsive and ensured we reached the spot easily, the ritual seemed overpriced and not all the ingredients were used that would be in the south. The ritual lasted for only about 20 mins...

I have done my father asthikalsam in Kaashi and Prayag. Sharma ji suggested to do first in Prayag and then to Kaashi. He arranged one pandit there at Prayag. Everything is fine, but the time of immencing asthi at Prayag is at sunset ( that is not the right time for asthi nimajjanam - I came to know later. But no one tells or guides before. Feels mechanical attitude) At Kaashi, Sharmaji is very kind n cooperative to fulfil the program. I suggest to all, when visiting Kaashi, check, enquire and get clarified about minute details. After all we are going there may be once in a life time. Sharmaji is very helpful. Still we need to ask for any clarifications we required. No one can imagine and give answers without asking.

Harshavardhana Sharma garu is one of a kind purohit in Varanasi. He is very honest and informs you about what needs to be done for the rituals well in advance. You can be assured that he performs his duty with utmost sincerity. He stays in touch with you even after you have performed your rites through Whatsapp and other means, and offers you spiritual tidbits from time to time. In my opinion, we need more such purohits so that we can follow our culture and tradition in its truest form.

It was a good and very genuine Pandit. We went to Kasi to mix our father ashes in Ganga. Puja was done in good manner. No hurry. Very good pandit anyone who is going to Kasi first time i will refer this Pandit they will not cheat. They have guided us in getting through them. all the material for puja was provided by pandit so you no need to worry about anything.
