Kanaka Durga Temple , Indhrakeeladhri

Kanaka Durga Temple is one of the most famous and spiritually significant temples in Vijayawada, located atop the scenic Indrakeeladri Hill on the banks of the Krishna River. Dedicated to Goddess Kanaka Durga, it is believed to be a sacred Shakti Peetha where Devi defeated the demon Mahishasura, symbolizing the victory of good over evil. The temple is especially grand during Dasara Navratri, when lakhs of devotees visit for darshan. Must-do experiences include taking the traditional steps to the temple for a spiritual climb, attending the morning aarti, offering kumkum archana, and enjoying the panoramic river view from the hilltop. Visiting the nearby Prakasam Barrage in the evening adds to the experience.

One of the most prominent temples in Vijayawada, which you must visit once. We visited during the Navaratri and hence the vehicle entry was blocked by the traffic police. So, we had to walk around 3-4 kms. I don't think blocking the traffic for that long was necessary. It was total mismanagement of the traffic police. Anyways, if you are going in normal days, you can drive till the temple. Do visit that place and do the darshan.

The temple, dedicated to the powerful presiding deity Lord Kanaka Durga Maa, bestows blessings upon all devotees. Opportunities exist for offering Metla Puja and purchasing special darshan tickets, priced at up to 500 rupees. Within the temple complex, facilities include an annadanam hall, prasadam counter, various stores, and restrooms.

I never expected that I would have Garbhalaya Darshanam of One of the Most Powerful Goddess Bhavani Matha. It a very emotional, powerful, spiritual and a divine experience.

I never ever had a idea to visit this temple since i am based on bangalore. But ammavaru came in my dreams 4 times and called me. Once i was shouting like no one can me stop me i am going to see ammavaru. Generally i wont believe this but when i shared this with my parents they told me why you only getting such dreams there might be some reason. So finally we decided to visit the temple and visited temple on last friday and saturday. Ammavaru gave nice darshanam and it was a eye feast to watch. Also best part is elevator in the temple which helps old people to go up and see the ammavaru without any struggle also temple provides free bus facility. Temple was maintained very neatly. Every where it was clean. But slippers collectors and mobile colleting employees attitude was worst. They are bheaving like they are doing some charity work. Out of all onething i didnt liked is there was a christian lady sitting under flyover near temple lift entrance side and directly preaching about christianity. Every one has their own beliefs and rights. We to agree but that doesn't mean they can sit at the entranc of the temple and do all these things. Watching krishna river from the temple hill was ete feast. Man, i loved this place.

The Kanaka Durga Temple in Vijayawada generally opens from 4:00 AM to 5:45 PM and 6:15 PM to 10:00 PM daily. On Sundays and during festivals, the temple may stay open 24 hours. The best time to visit is early morning or evening to avoid long queues, which take 30–60 minutes on average.
